Truth be told, there’s no fun if Brooklyn can’t have none! Legendary award winning producer, director, writer, and actor Spike Lee plans to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the hit 80’s film ‘Do the Right Thing’ with a block party this summer.

On June 30th, fans of the movie can break out their retro gear from the gumbie cuts to cut off denim shorts and meet him on “Do the Right Thing Way” – a block in the Bedford-Suyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn NY where scenes of the movie were shot. If you are unfamiliar with the production, it dissects racial issues of the time and gives viewers an inside look of everyday life for Brooklyn natives on a summer day. Since the release of ‘Do the Right Thing,’ Spike Lee has gone on to create tons of memorable films including Blackkklansman where he won his first Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

This event is free to the public and is similar to his 2017 Michael Jackson block party that was a hit! Get there early to get a spot and enjoy the performances.
