Show of hands, who knew we would say, “I told you so” when the fashion industry decided to relaunch brands of the 90’s? For some strange reason everyone is shocked and showing reactions that resemble a deer in headlights when they noticed that a chunk of retail stores are tanking at a rapid pace. Just this week alone, Charlotte Russe packed up ship and decided to close all of their stores. Household names such as Macy’s, JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom are closing more than a dozen of their stores this year as well.

Frankly, retail isn’t selling the way that they used to. Consumers would much rather spend their money where they’ll get more bang for their buck and what’s better than making purchases where you feel the most nostalgic? Where were you when Fubu was the hottest trend in the Bad Boy music videos? Or when Dapper Dan remixed runway Gucci to season looks for rappers? Thrift, vintage, and second hand shopping has created a lane of it’s own and numbers don’t lie. Fast fashion is quickly becoming a thing of the past and here at Modern Stitches, well…we kinda told you so! You’re welcome!
