This week in Washington, DC, cycle 4 of Indie Fashion Week has commenced, but this time we’re along for the ride. On March 1st, Modern Stitches Magazine Founder and Publisher, Ashley Scarboro alongside the founders of IFWDC, hosted the State of the Union town hall fashion discussion with some of the most influential fashion and media personalities in the DMV as panelists.

Future and current designers, podcast personalities, fashion enthusiasts, models and a ton of eager ears attended the event in hopes to fill in gaps of information from the veterans in the business. Ashleigh Demi (Producer/Media Personality), Midori Amae (Model/Brand Ambassador/Miss Black VA USA), Commissioner Jason Anthony (Commissioner of the Commission on Fashion Art and Events), Jennifer Jean- Pierre (Content Creator of CommeCoco) and Cierra Lynne (Fashion Art/Design Professional) sat before the room to dive into pending questions from the audience. Responses on networking, trusting the journey and staying motivated were just a few hot topics of the night.

Upon completion of the discussion, attendees received a special fashion presentation from up and coming designer Orlando (aka King O). Stylish symmetric gowns donned the female models of the night and was well received from on-lookers.

The Nation’s Capital community of fashion showed up for this event to not only pour knowledge into aspiring industry professionals, but to also create dialogue amongst those who continue to live and conquer the day to day “unknowns” of the business.
