This morning Modern Stitches headed over to the virtual “Natural Blessing” NYFW presentation hosted by Taiwanese brand, OqLiq.  Founders, Orbit Lin and Chi Houng teamed up with Japanese brand GOOPiMade for a unique digital experience. The two fashion houses took us to an animated futuristic city of cyborg models. The visuals paid homage to the two cultures of streetwear fashion and its urban environment. The collection is inspired by the Chinese novel “Creation of the gods” to feature traditional silhouettes and technical textiles.

OqLiq’s mission is to go for vintage and recycled material approach in their garments; their 2021 presentation featured just that. Men’s outerwear/ leisurewear showcased a consistent color palette of black, grey, orange, and green. Along with color, creating a sustainable collection with abstract pocket patching and interesting draping took the show’s spotlight. The clothing was in a 3D animated form; the design duo plays with recyclable material like polyethylene terephthalate or technology textiles that are lightweight and shatter-resistant.

The show was a refreshing take on fashion done digitally with unique animations. The collection was short nevertheless innovative to the future of sustainable streetwear. What do you hope to see more from OpLiq? Check out the visuals below.
