#NYFW: Small Boutique Fashion Week Recap

Post By RelatedRelated Post

New York Fashion week usually highlights the top, and best designers: Oscar de la Renta, Coach, and Nicole Miller, to name a few. But, we all know the big names had to start somewhere. Whether starting by working for a fashion company, or starting as a family company, the great always start somewhere.

In the case of Small Boutique Fashion Week, this particular company highlighs small boutiques aiming to gain success in the fashion world.

According to the official The Small Boutique Fashion Week, LLC Facebook, SBFW Show and Market was launched in 2012, and is geared towards professionals in the fashion industry, including but not limited to; small boutique owners, buyers, fashion designers, stylists, photographers, fans of fashion, and members of the fashion media (i.e. journalists, bloggers, photographers, etc.). The primary intent of the event is to create a vending experience that caters to the small scale buying and selling handmade community…Our hopes are also to turn S.B.F.W. Show and Market into a biannual event geared towards the small scale buying community and designer vending; eventually becoming the go to event for members of the small-scale market.

Over the past 9 seasons, Small Boutique Fashion Week has debuted the collections of over 400+ brands launching the careers of some of fashion’s most powerful independent brands.

For the Fall/Winter 2017 New York Fashion Week runway shows, 30 small boutiques participated. A list of current and previous designers can be seen here, on the official website. Each show lasted between 5 and 10 minutes, detailing each designer’s unique style.
